About Add watermark
Add a watermark to a PDF online with text, like "Confidential" or "Draft", or with your own logo. You set the size, colour, opacity, angle and layout, and a live preview shows how each page will look before you save. It is free, needs no sign-up, and adds no watermark of its own.
This is handy for anyone who sends documents before they are final: a designer sharing proofs with a client, a small business sending price lists, or an office marking an internal memo. For example, a photographer can place a transparent PNG logo, tiled across every page of a portfolio PDF, so the work is clearly branded.
Pages are not flattened into images, so your text stays selectable. Watermarks are added in your browser and your PDF is never uploaded. Keep in mind that the watermark sits on top of the page, so someone with a PDF editor could remove it.
How to use Add watermark
- Click Choose file or drop your PDF on the page.
- Choose the Type: Text or Image. For text, type your words and pick Size, Colour and a font style (Sans bold or Serif bold). For an image, add a PNG or JPG logo.
- Pick a Layout: Centre, Tiled, Top or Bottom. Adjust Opacity and Angle while you watch the preview.
- Under Pages, keep all pages or enter a range such as 2-10.
- Download the watermarked PDF to your device.
Text or logo
Type any text or use a PNG or JPG logo, with transparent PNG support.
Full control
Size, colour, opacity, angle, and centred, top, bottom or tiled layouts.
Private by design
Watermarks are added in your browser; your PDF is never uploaded.
Text stays real
Pages aren’t flattened into images, so text stays selectable.
Example
Input: a 12-page proposal for a client.
You click: Type "Text", type "DRAFT", Layout "Centre", leave Opacity at 25% and Angle at 45°, then save.
Result: every page shows a light, angled "DRAFT" across the middle, and the text under it can still be selected.
Add watermark: questions people ask
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. The watermark is added in your browser, and the file is processed on your device.
Is there a file size limit?
There's no set file size or page limit. Very large files work best on a computer, because your own device does the work.
Can I use my logo with a transparent background?
Yes. Logos can be PNG or JPG, and transparent PNGs keep their transparency.
Can someone remove the watermark?
It sits on top of the page content, so a PDF editor could remove it. For stronger protection, use Protect PDF as well.
