About Split PDF

Sometimes you only need part of a big PDF, or you need to send each section to a different person. This tool lets you split a PDF online for free. You can break it into single pages, into groups of a set size, or into custom ranges you type yourself. A live preview shows which new file each page will go into.

Pages are copied as they are. Text stays selectable, and links, fonts and image quality do not change. When you are done, download one part or get all the parts in a ZIP.

It suits teachers, accountants and anyone who handles long documents. Say a teacher has one PDF with the reading packs for a whole term. She types ranges like 1-12, 13-20 and 21- so each unit becomes its own file, checks the preview, and downloads them all in one ZIP. The splitting happens in your browser, and the PDF is never uploaded.

How to use Split PDF

  1. Drop your PDF on the page or click Choose file. It opens in your browser.
  2. Pick how to split it: Every page, Every N pages, or Custom ranges.
  3. For custom ranges, type the parts separated by commas, such as 1-3, 4-6, 8-.
  4. Check the preview to see which new file each page goes into.
  5. Click Split PDF, then download a single part or all parts in a ZIP.

FAQ

Split PDF: questions people ask

How do I type page ranges?

Separate the parts with commas, such as 1-3, 4-6. An open range like 8- runs to the last page.

Does the quality drop?

No. Pages are copied exactly, including text, images, links and fonts.

Can I split a password-protected PDF?

If the file needs a password to open, you will be asked for it. If it is locked against editing, unlock it first.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. It is split in your browser, and the new files download straight to your device. There is also no sign-up, watermark or limit on files or pages.
