Start your first class

  1. Open Omebly Meet. Go to meet.omebly.com and click Start a class now. For a class later, click Schedule a class: the link stays the same for every lesson until you delete it.
  2. Share the link. Send it on WhatsApp or by email, add it to Google Calendar, or show the QR code.
  3. Let students in. Students type their name and ask to join. You hear a soft bell; click Admit.
  4. Teach. Share your screen, open the whiteboard or present a PDF. When the class ends, you get attendance and downloads for the chat, captions, quiz results and questions.

Everything a small class needs

Sharp screen sharing

A screen, a window or a tab, with its sound, at its own resolution up to 4K, sharp from the first moment. Take a full-size snapshot any time.

Whiteboard and drawing

A whiteboard with flowchart shapes and connectors, PDF slides, and a pen, marker, arrow and laser to draw on top of a shared screen.

Recording

Record the whole class, only the shared screen, or only the sound. The file is saved to your computer as you go.

Teacher controls

Waiting room, mute and unmute, spotlight, focus mode, a raise-hand queue, and what students may do: unmute, camera, share, chat, draw.

Quizzes, polls and groups

Quick quizzes with a leaderboard, polls, Q&A with upvotes, reactions, and groups (breakout rooms) with a timer.

Clear sound

Background noise removal on every microphone, a voice meter on whoever is talking, and live captions for those who want them.

Backgrounds

Blur what is behind you or choose a picture, including your own. It is done on your computer; your room is never sent.

Weak internet?

Low-data mode keeps the shared screen sharp while cameras come small, and Meet suggests it when a connection gets weak.

Your privacy

Video and sound go only to the people in the class, through Omebly's own server, and nothing is recorded by Omebly. Recordings, snapshots and downloads are saved on the teacher's computer. Attendance (names and join and leave times) is kept for one day so the teacher can download it, then deleted. Chat, captions, quiz answers and questions are not kept once the class page is closed. Captions of a person's voice are made by their own browser's speech service, and only if they say yes.

FAQ

Omebly Meet: questions people ask

Is Omebly Meet free?

Yes. It is free, with no ads and nothing to install. Teachers need no account, and students only open the link and type their name.

How many people can join a class?

Up to 4 people in each class (the teacher and 3 students), which keeps the video and sound smooth for everyone. Omebly Meet is made for small classes, tuition and one-to-one lessons.

Does the class link expire?

No. A scheduled class keeps the same link until you delete the class, so the same link works for every lesson of a course.

Which devices work?

Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Firefox and Safari on computers, and Chrome or Safari on phones and tablets. Teachers get the most out of it on a computer with Chrome or Edge (screen sharing with sound, recording, backgrounds and captions).

Can I record my class?

Yes. Record the whole class, only the shared screen, or only the sound. The file is saved straight to your computer and never to Omebly. Everyone sees a Recording sign while you record.

Can students share their screen?

Yes, when the teacher allows it. The teacher decides who may unmute, turn on the camera, share the screen, chat and draw.

Is it private?

Video and sound go only to the people in the class. Nothing is recorded by Omebly. Attendance (names and join and leave times) is kept for one day so the teacher can download it, then deleted. Captions of a person's voice are made only if that person says yes.

Does it work with weak internet?

Yes. Low-data mode makes other cameras small or paused and keeps the shared screen sharp. Omebly Meet offers it on its own when someone's internet gets weak.
