CHAPTER 01

Conversion rate optimization services: what they are and when you need them

Conversion rate optimisation, or CRO, is the work of turning more of your existing visitors into customers or enquiries. Our conversion rate optimization services use your analytics, heatmaps and session recordings to find where people drop off, then test changes to copy, offers, layout and checkout so you know which ones actually help. It sits within our wider digital marketing service.

01.1

When you need it

You need it when traffic is arriving but not converting: ad clicks that rarely become sales, a checkout where many shoppers stop at the delivery step, or a lead form that people start and abandon. Online stores, lead-generation businesses and SaaS companies with sign-up or trial flows get the most from it, because a small improvement at a busy step affects every visitor after it.

CHAPTER 02

What is included in our CRO work

We start with research rather than opinions. A funnel review in GA4 shows each step from landing page to purchase or enquiry, split by device and traffic source, so we can see whether mobile visitors from paid social struggle more than desktop visitors from search, for example. Heatmaps show where people click and how far they scroll. Session recordings show real visits and reveal the problems analytics cannot, such as a button that does not respond on some phones or a coupon field that sends shoppers off to search for codes.

02.1

A prioritised test plan

Findings become a prioritised test plan. Each idea is written as a hypothesis, such as “showing delivery costs on the product page will reduce checkout drop-off”, and ranked by likely impact, confidence and effort.

02.2

Testing what works

Then we test. A/B tests compare copy, offers, headlines, page layouts and calls to action against the original. For stores we work on checkout friction, including fewer form fields, clearer costs, trust signals and the right payment options, and test one-click upsells or order bumps where they suit the product. For lead businesses we simplify forms and make the next step obvious. Every test ends with a short written report.

CHAPTER 03

How we approach testing

The most important decision is what not to test. Small sites cannot reliably test button colours, so we focus on changes large enough to measure. Obvious bugs are simply fixed, not tested. Tests run for full weeks so weekday and weekend behaviour are both included, and we decide in advance how long a test needs, rather than stopping it the moment a graph looks good.

03.1

Data quality first

Data quality comes first. If conversion events are double-counted or missing, test results are meaningless, so we check tracking before any test and fix it through our GA4 and analytics dashboards service if needed. Testing tools and recordings are set up to respect your cookie consent banner and anonymise personal data.

03.2

Connected to your traffic

CRO is most useful when it connects to your traffic. If we also run your Google Ads or Meta ads, findings shape which pages and offers each campaign uses, and ad messages are matched to the page people land on.

CHAPTER 04

Timelines and what affects cost

Research and a first round of fixes usually take a few weeks. After that, testing is ongoing, and each test runs until it reaches a reliable result, which depends mostly on your traffic and conversion volume. Low-traffic sites see fewer, larger tests; busy stores can run more.

04.1

What affects the cost

Cost depends on the number of pages and funnels in scope, the volume of research, how many tests run each month, whether tests need design and development work, and the platform your site is built on. A one-time CRO audit gives you a prioritised list of fixes and test ideas you can act on yourself, while a monthly programme includes running the tests. Both are fixed in a written quote after a free consultation.

CHAPTER 05

Common conversion problems we find

Some issues appear on almost every site we review. Delivery costs or taxes appear only at the final step of checkout, so shoppers leave at the last moment. Forms ask for information that is not needed yet, such as company size or a full address for a simple enquiry. Mobile pages push the key button below a large image or behind a pop-up.

05.1

Common problems we fix

Product pages lack the details people need to decide, like sizing, delivery times or the returns policy, and trust signals sit in the footer where few visitors scroll. Landing pages for ads repeat the home page instead of matching the offer in the ad. Most of these show up in recordings and funnel data within the first weeks, and fixing them often comes before formal A/B testing.

CHAPTER 06

Why Omebly for CRO

Projects are led personally by founder Nazmul Hussain, who brings 10+ years of building websites and digital products. That matters in CRO, because many test ideas need design and development to build properly, and our team can do both. You get a fixed written quote, a monthly call and an NDA on request.

06.1

You own everything

The research, test reports and any designs we create are yours once paid in full. We never promise a percentage uplift; we show you the real result of every test so you can decide what to keep.

How we work

From first call to hand-over

  1. 1

    Free consultation

    Under 1 week

We look at your site, traffic sources, goals and current numbers, and check whether traffic is enough for A/B testing.

  2. 2

    Tracking check

    1-2 weeks

We confirm GA4 events and conversions are accurate, because tests on bad data give wrong answers.

  3. 3

    Research

    2-3 weeks

Funnel analysis, heatmaps, session recordings and, where possible, customer surveys reveal the problems.

  4. 4

    Test plan and quick fixes

    1-2 weeks

Clear bugs and obvious friction are fixed straight away; uncertain ideas go into a ranked test plan.

  5. 5

    Testing cycles

    Ongoing

Tests run one or a few at a time, each until it reaches a reliable result, then the next begins.

FAQ

Conversion Rate Optimisation: questions people ask

Does my site have enough traffic for A/B testing?

Not every site does. A test needs enough visitors and conversions on the page to give a reliable answer in a sensible time. With lower traffic, we focus on research-led fixes, larger changes that are easier to measure, and before-and-after tracking, rather than splitting tiny audiences. We check your numbers in the consultation and tell you honestly which approach fits.

What do heatmaps and session recordings show?

Heatmaps show where people click and how far they scroll, so you can see if key information is never reached or if visitors click things that are not links. Session recordings show individual visits, which often reveal confusing forms, broken elements on certain phones or hesitation at delivery costs. Recordings are anonymised and set up to respect your cookie consent.

Who makes the changes on our website?

It depends on the platform. Many tests run through a testing tool without touching your code. Permanent changes can be made by us on platforms such as Shopify or WordPress, by your developer from our specifications, or by our web development team. We agree access and responsibilities at the start so nothing on your live site changes without your approval.

Can CRO hurt our SEO?

Not when it is done properly. Google's guidance allows A/B testing as long as tests are temporary, the variants are not used to show search engines something different from users, and redirect tests use the right signals. We follow that guidance and remove losing variants once a test ends, so search engines see one consistent page.

How much can CRO increase our sales?

We can't promise a figure. Some tests win, many are neutral and some lose, which is still useful because they stop a bad change going live. The value comes from steady, measured improvements over time and from understanding your buyers better. Every test is reported with its actual result, so you can see the real effect on your numbers.

Should we fix conversions before spending more on ads?

Often, yes. If a landing page converts poorly, more ad spend buys more visitors who leave. Improving the page lowers your cost per enquiry or sale across every channel at once. When we manage your Google or Meta ads, CRO findings feed straight into which pages and offers the ads point to.
