How to edit a PDF with Omebly

  1. Open your PDF. Choose a file or drop it on the page. It opens in your browser; nothing is uploaded.
  2. Click any text to edit it. Type, delete or format it. The text keeps its font, size, colour and position.
  3. Add what you need. Text boxes, images, shapes, drawings, highlights, white-out and links, plus page tools in the sidebar.
  4. Download. Your edited PDF saves to your device, with real, selectable text.

Same font, same look

Edits reuse the PDF’s own embedded fonts and spacing, so changed words blend in. Missing letters use the closest matching font, and you’re told when that happens.

Private by design

The whole editor runs in your browser. Your document isn’t uploaded or seen by anyone. Unfinished work is kept in this browser for up to 7 days so you can continue; the bin button removes it at once.

Tables that adjust

Longer text wraps inside its cell and the row grows. Drag column and row borders, or add and delete rows and columns.

Everything a PDF editor needs

A full text toolbar with free fonts, images you can replace, shapes, signatures, stamps, notes, form filling and page tools.

FAQ

PDF editor: questions people ask

Is the Omebly PDF editor really free?

Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on files or pages. The editor runs in your browser, so it costs us nothing extra when you use it.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. Your PDF is opened and edited inside your browser and the edited file downloads straight back to you. It never leaves your device, so we never see it. So you can continue later, your work is kept in this browser only, for up to 7 days. The bin button in the editor removes it at once.

Will edited text match the original font?

Yes, in most PDFs. When you change a word, the editor reuses the font, size, colour and spacing already in the PDF. Many PDFs only carry the letters they use, so if you type a letter the font doesn’t include, the editor uses the closest matching font for that letter and tells you.

Can I edit a scanned PDF?

A scanned page is a picture, not text, so its words can’t be edited directly. You can still add text, images, shapes and white-out on top. Our OCR tool, coming soon, will turn scans into editable text.

Does the downloaded PDF keep selectable text?

Yes. The editor rewrites the text inside the PDF instead of flattening pages into pictures, so text stays sharp, searchable and selectable, and image quality is kept.

What can I do besides editing text?

Add text boxes, images, shapes, lines and arrows, freehand drawing, highlights, white-out and links. You can also rotate, delete, duplicate, insert and reorder pages, and find and replace text across the document.

Can I open a password-protected PDF?

Yes. Enter the password when asked; it stays on your device. Saving changes to a protected PDF will come with our Unlock PDF tool.
